Showered with Baby Love

A few weeks ago, my sweet friends gave me and Cassie a baby shower to celebrate our second babies. I had to wait a while to make this post because I am a total slacker and didn't take my camera. I had to wait for the other girls to make their posts so that I could steal pictures for my blog! Anyways, it's a sweet little tradition with just the nine of us (excluding Shelby this time- curses to law school and Seattle!) Cassie and I are due within the same week of each other- me with a boy, and Cassie with a girl. We keep having opposite of each other!
Opening presents

Vaughanie was sweet enough to bring precious Ava along so that we could all spend some time with her too. Here she is playing with the tea set (an early birthday gift) that Isabella gave her.

Kristen K, Jenny, Cassie, Me, Vaughanie and Ava
Addie, Paige and Cathy and minus Shelby :(
Comparing bellys. I think we are both around 29 weeks here.
Andrew and I got sooo many cute things: clothes, blankets, towels, etc. But, I had to pay a special tribute to my talented and crafty friends:

Vaughanie made this bib.

Jenny made this onesie.

Cassie made this onesie as well as...
these super cute burp cloths!

My friends are sooooo crafty that they have inspired me a little, too. Let's see if I can do anything as cute!

A Suprise for a Silly Girl

Isabella is such a lucky girl! She got a surprise in the mail the other day from a sweet mystery person! Turns out it was from Aunt Jackie and Uncle Phil! They sure know how much Izzie loves to dress up AND Yo Gabba Gabba! and DJ Lance! The surprise was the DJ Lance hat and glasses.

Not so sure at first...
And now, she loves it!

Seriously, how funny is this face??!!

Doing a little dance.

Making a funny face.

Pretty smile.

And look at those lips!

Happy 60th Birthday Papi!

My Mom gave my Dad a 60th birthday party over the weekend!! We love you Papi and hope you had a great birthday!!!!!!!!!!!

The yummy red velvet cake
Hanging out

Gonzalez men
Singing to the big guy :)

Seriously yummy cake!

Who's playing hide and seek in the closet?

Oh, it's crazy Uncle Phil and Lukey!

And, naturally, some backyard time.

Whenever I get home from family events and look at my pictures, I always get mad at myself because I am always so focused on taking pictures of the kids (naturally) that I forget to take as many of the adults. Maybe next time I will have to make a mental check list of the people and groups I need to remember to photograph. Yeah, right!

My Little Love Bug

We had a "lovely" Valentine's Day here at the Bass house on Sunday. Izzie told me that she wanted to make her daddy an extra special Valentine's Day card (not really), and I had seen a really cute idea on this blog. So a few days before V-day, we started our project. I should have known it would be difficult to do considering Izzie hates having dirty hands. But I buckled down and tried anyways.

This is about as close as she would go to touching the paint- voluntarily that is.

After much begging and prodding, I managed to get her to put her hand in. Okay, okay, I totally forced her hand in the paint, and had to uncurl her little fingers from the tight, tiny fist she was making. There was much protesting on her part. A lot of "No! No!" and head shaking, but don't worry- no crying (I'm not that mean). Once the paint was all over her hands, she wanted to keep "jazz hands" if you will. So I had to smush her fingers together as I pressed them onto the paper. Sadly, this was the best we could do!

We wanted to make it look like a more traditional card, so here is the end product.

I wrote the message, while Izzie colored the background.
Joe loved it! So special from his little girl :) But leave it to him to say that it reminded him of a scene from "Dexter". He just wouldn't be Daddy without a witty comment ;)

On Valentine's morning, we all exchanged cards and Joe and I both got Isabella bears. (She is very into bears at the moment, and I guess great minds think alike. We should have consulted each other first!) Joe got the brown one and I got the white one. She loved them both :)

The one that I got is that one from Hallmark that responds to your voice. It tells you it loves you and asks for hugs. Here is Izzie giving her bear a hug, after he asked of course :) She is totally saying "hug" and patting him on the back.

Think she loves these bears?!

Daddy made special Valentine's Day pancakes.

And I even caught my two Valentines sharing a little kiss :)

And this one is for Mimi! She bought Izzie this sweet little dress for Valentine's day, so I wanted to make sure that I got a picture of her in it. I know it's not the best picture, but I totally get an A for effort because she keep running from me. Every time she would see me with the camera, she would say, "run!" and do just that.Mommy was getting tired, so this picture will have to do!

And a view of the back.

Hope you all had a great Valentine's with your little love bugs!

And He Has A Name!!!

So, many of you know by now that we have decided on a name for our precious baby boy!

Wish I could take credit for painting the little jungle animals, but in actuality, I just painted the letters brown and, well, you get it. Since I showed of Izzie's room, once Andrew's is finished, I'll show that one off too. Don't get excited though. The room is a done deal. We are obviously leaving it the way it was when Izzie was in there, but I did buy some new bedding and few things for the walls. And if you haven't seen the room, I think the jungle animals give it away!

But, back to the name. I had wanted Andrew from the beginning. For some reason, it just felt right. We discussed it and talked about other names, and while Joe could commit to other names, I just kept going back to Andrew. I basically told Joe, sorry but our son's name is Andrew, it just is, and I don't why! And since Joe was so sweet and essentially let me pick the first name, I told him he could pick the middle name. So he picked the name that was his first pick: Dalton. So there you have it- Andrew Dalton Bass!

Another Preggo Update

I had another OB appointment this morning- this time it was the dreaded 3 hour glucose test. But before I get into that, let me back up a bit.

Two days last week, Thursday and Sunday, I had a bit of a fainting scare. The first time it happened, I was home alone with Isabella and in the shower. I was a little shaken up for the rest of the day, but fine. The second time was Sunday morning at HEB. I was by myself- it was one of those rare, coveted trips. I felt it coming on and had time to push some products to the side and sit down on one of the shelves in an aisle. I was just minding my own business, but evidently when a pregnant woman turns pale and plops herself and her belly down in the middle of an aisle, people look. A store worker was standing nearby and so was another lady. They both asked me if I was okay and the worker when to go get a manager. A manager, really? I'm fine! I just need to sit. The other lady refused to leave me and told the manager to get me water. I asked if she was a mother because not many people would be as nice to me as she was. She indeed has 2 kids of her own. I just sat there for a few minutes and drank my water and finally convinced everyone that I was fine- no need for the electric wheelchair on my way out. Seriously, it was embarrassing.

But both incidents really freaked me out because well, when your vision is starting to tunnel out and you are all alone or alone with your child, you kind of start to panic. I called my doctor on Monday morning and got my appointment for next Monday pushed up to today. Baby is doing great :) and I passed my test! When I spoke to my doctor about my near fainting spells, she said that because I failed the one hour glucose test, that is an indication that my blood sugar levels aren't always consistent, which would explain it. I have always been the kind of person to get lightheaded easily, or get the whole "head rush" thing if I stand up too quickly. So, I guess it all goes hand in hand. She said to eat a protein snack every two hours, which will be work since I'm not hungry near that often. And since they were working with my blood, they went ahead and ran my iron count again. It was still low, but it had improved from the previous visit- which is good.

All in all, a good visit. The best part as usual- getting to hear my baby's heartbeat! Don't get me wrong, I want him to finish baking, but I can't wait to have him here :) And yes, he finally has a name. I know many of you know already, but I'll post in when I finish painting the letters for his room :)

2 Year Photos

Theresa took Isabella's 2 year photos a few weeks ago. We postponed it after her accident to let the scab fall off (sorry, I know that sounds really gross, but it's the truth) and then again when both photographer and model got sick. So technically, she is closer to 25 months than 2 years, but you get the idea! We started out at the Japanese Tea Gardens and it was cooooooooold. Being surrounded by water and all those stones made the temp drop in that area significantly. Because of this, I didn't want to take her coat off, so we just made due. And because of the temperature, Isabella wasn't really having it (big shock!), but Theresa still managed to get some really cute shots, which is just a testament to what a great photographer she is!

After about 30 minutes we decided that maybe we should change locations. So we headed to the park and I gave her a little wardrobe change in the warm car. We go to the park and I was so glad that we made that change because it was so much warmer out of that environment. My Mom gave Izzie this little vest for Christmas and since it isn't an "every day" look, we decided to capture it in these photos.

And that's a wrap!
