Isabella's Baptism

What a wonderful Sunday we had! Not only was it Joe's very first Father's Day, but Isabella was also baptized. It was a day surrounded by people we love, and we couldn't have asked for more.

I have to say that I was pretty nervous about the baptism. Isabella has been so clingy lately that I wasn't sure if she was going to let our pastor hold her, let alone pour water on her head and walk her down the aisle. I was certain that she was going to do one or more of the following things: 1) scream/cry 2) spit up or 3) rip the pastor's glasses off. But thank goodness, none of those things happened! God was really with us! She was such a sweet girl. But I do have to say that there was some major work put into her good behavior. I had to make sure that she was fed just right- enough so that she wasn't hungry, but not so much that she would spit up. Isabella also gets VERY cranky when it is time for a nap, which would naturally happen right around baptism time. So, I got her up a bit earlier than normal for the day and fit her morning nap in before church service. It couldn't have gone smoother. The service was great, and so was Isabella. She looked like a little angel...And if you look at the slideshow, you may think that I picked a very old-fashioned dress, which I did, but for good reason. Isabella actually wore the dress that I wore when I was baptized. It was a really special moment for me, and I can't help but think that it was a pretty special moment for my mom, too. After the service, we had our family come back to our house for a little post-baptism party. Unfortunately, the guest of honor slept through about half of her party, but it was well deserved...I told her that if she was good during the actual baptism, she could act however she wanted for the rest of the day!
